I am Ashkenazi. I moved to Palo Alto from Manhattan in 1989. I married my wife, but my wife passed away in 2006. I remain a widower, living alone with my two dogs. I am educated with many interests. I read history books, I am interested in the arts of the Italian Renaissance including the Baroque period: Music, Dance, Costume, Theatre design, palace gardens, painting, architecture, etc. Thus I enjoy travel, museums, etc. I used to cook, including French seafood, Chinese regional, subcontinental Indian cuisine, regional Mexican, Mediterainian, etc. but rarely cook now. I like to travel, but when I travel it is more like cultural anthropology, thus months of research as preparation. I am not the typical tourist, but also love natural beauty, parks, beaches, oceanographic centers, volcanic sites, etc. I am not limited to travel in Europe.I travel in time.

I am amazed that many men can’t shop, cook, wash, read, etc, just vegetate watching sports or using drugs, etc. I focus on reading, when I travel to foreign countries I am more like a cultural anthropologist.

Most of my interests are not choices on any site like this. As an example, I make a distinction between movies, I don’t watch trash, so avoid almost all films made in the USA. For example, I might read Camper (facial angle), used by people like Blumenbach, later by German racist Fascists such as Immanuel Kant. Sites like this don’t quite get the distinctions. I prefer Baroque music to Classical music, once again distinctions are ignored. Languages? Mathematical Linguistics, not Brazilian Portuguese, etc.
